DWS ResearchLab

Diffusing Wave Spectroscopy (DWS) is a modern light scattering technique for the characterization of turbid media such as dense particle suspensions, emulsions, foams, ceramic slurries and many other, both liquid and solid.DWS is based on the idea that the transport of light can be treated as a diffusion process in sufficiently turbid media. The fluctuations of the multiple scattered light emitted from such a media can then be analyzed accordingly to obtain a number physical parameters:

  • Storage and loss modulus [G’(ω), G”(ω)];

  • Particle Size;

  • Mean square displacement <r2>;

  • Transport mean free path ℓ *.
